You've just been assigned as caretaker of a large hotel in the Colorado mountains which stays closed during the winter months. Due to its remote location, the pulse start metal halide floodlights in your outdoor maze keep going out due to hiccups in the voltage. Keep that maze lit nice and bright with our extended temperature 175 watt HID backup ballast.
Developed by Bodine, leaders in emergency lighting, the Arctic175PLS uses an internal battery to maintain the heated arc within a PSMH bulb when there are sudden brownouts or brief power surges lasting 2-minutes or less. This high frequency emergency "arc-keeper" also has an internal DC power inverter for connections to central batteries or backup generator if the power sag continues for more than 2-minutes.
Ideal for outdoor flood lights and wall packs in temperatures as low as -22° F. Since a metal halide lamp will quickly lose efficacy 4-milliseconds after power is lost, the Arc-Keeper ballast gives the lamp just enough juice so that the outdoor area stays well-lit and accessible. It should be kept within a waterproof transformer box, inside a watertight luminaire or recessed within a building to avoid ice buildup.
The Arctic 175PLS has a very low-profile white metal case and includes an solid-state charging indicator light that can affix to the luminaire for at-will battery monitoring. It has input/output lead wires protruding from one side of the case, contained within a flexible raceway.
