The veterans in your VFW Hall are pledging allegiance to the flag, hand over their Purple Hearts, when suddenly, POOF! The meeting room is plunged into darkness and none of your emergency lights came on! If those emergency lights use a 2-pin CFL, the one bulb compact fluorescent emergency operation ballast is your number one retrofit solution.
The B413 contains a high temperature nickel cadmium battery which requires no top-offs like the heavier SLA emergency batteries of the Korean War. The R&D teams at Philips Bodine built this specialized battery pack with a patented time-delay circuit/voltage sensors to keep the unit from switching-on during brief power hiccups in the grid. Best of all you will not require a tandem AC ballast if you're replacing 2-pin emergency-only fixtures.
This compact fluorescent emergency ballast can hook up to any building with a 120 or 277vAC circuit found in most recital spaces, town halls and college classrooms. For typically-ON luminaires, the B413 works in conjunction with the normal AC transformer. It is fully compatible with most dimmable, magnetic or solid-state line voltage ballasts.
The B413 is not ideal in spaces that go below 32°F, but it is UL Listed for relatively dry indoor spaces across the country. The circuitry is shrouded by a 22-gauge sheet metal housing that is given a cherry red enamel finish. The unit includes 2-feet of flexible electrical conduit for added protection.
